Glamping In Utah

If you love the great outdoors but don't want to give up creature comforts, glamping (glamorous camping) offers a unique, elevated way to experience nature. Utah's glamping scene offers something for all glamping levels, from luxury to simplified.

Imagine sleeping under the stars near The Mighty Five, spoiled by upscale amenities like king-size beds, private bathrooms and on-site dining. Utah’s glamping scene covers the entire state with easy access to national parks, state parks and recreation areas. Find unique stays in Southern Utah's scenic areas, such as Grand Staircase-Escalante and Capitol Reef National Park, all the way up north to the turquoise waters of Bear Lake.

Preparing For Your Utah Glamping Trip

Weather and Seasonality

Some glamping sites, such as yurts and winter resorts, remain open year-round and specialize in winter glamping. However, many are seasonal, operating from May through October. Always check in advance.

Temperatures in Utah's desert and mountain climates can fluctuate dramatically in a single day. Although many glamping accommodations offer heat/AC, it's essential to pack layers for the unpredictable weather, especially for desert winters. In snowy, high-mountain locations, consider packing traction gear for walking near yurts or cabins.

Safety Tips

Backcountry wintertime yurt experiences should be reserved for advanced campers with avalanche training and proper gear. Additionally, flash floods are a serious concern, especially in Southern Utah during monsoon season (typically July to mid-September). Always check the weather and flash flood warnings before heading into canyons.

Higher elevations impact activity levels and hydration. To prevent high-altitude sickness, stay well-hydrated, eat a high-carbohydrate diet, avoid alcohol and take time to acclimate to the elevation. Remember that high altitude also means high sun exposure, so sun protection is essential year-round.

FAQs

Are glamping sites in Utah pet-friendly?

Pet policies vary significantly among Utah glamping resorts. Some offer designated pet-friendly accommodations, and others do not allow pets at all. Check with your specific glamping site before booking to confirm their policy and any associated fees or restrictions.

Are meals provided, or do I need to bring my own food?

This depends on the resort. Many glamping resorts near the national parks, like Under Canvas, Open Sky Zion, ULUM Moab and Under Canvas Lake Powell - Grand Staircase, offer on-site dining or full-service restaurants. Some accommodations, such as those at East Zion Resort and Bryce Glamp and Camp, include kitchenettes for self-catering. More rustic glamping options offer firepits, picnic tables and space for personal camping stoves.

Is Wi-Fi or cell service available at glamping sites?

Some locations prioritize disconnecting from technology. However, most major resorts offer Wi-Fi in shared areas and/or individual units. Cell service can be unreliable in remote areas, particularly near the national parks and in the canyon country.
