Resort Information

Who is Sundance for?

Sundance Mountain Resort is more than winter sports – it’s about art, community and conserving nature. Whether skiing, hiking, taking a class at the art studio or just visiting to get away for a moment, this is a place for anyone who wants to disconnect and reset. You don’t have to be an expert skier, hiker or mountain biker to enjoy the resort. There are options and activities for people of all skill levels and interests.

Robert Redford's Legacy

In 1969, actor, director and activist Robert Redford purchased the land now known as Sundance Mountain Resort. The Ute tribes originally living in the area inspired him to create a haven for environmental conservation and artistic expression. Sundance is now globally synonymous with art, film, nature and a sense of community.

Sustainability and Conservation

Since 1969, Sundance Mountain Resort has been dedicated to green policies and environmental protection. Visitors can participate in a resort-wide recycling program and lodging guests can participate in a linen reuse program to save water and energy. Water throughout the resort comes from local mountain-fed springs and bottled water is not offered in lodging units to reduce plastic waste.

Parking and Transporation

Paid parking is in effect during the winter season (December 1-April 7). From Monday through Thursday, complimentary parking can be found in the upper lots. On weekends, parking ranges between $10 and $45, but is free in the upper lots for cars with four or more people to encourage carpooling. This helps the resort with its continuous conservation efforts. Parking is always complimentary for lodging guests.

Night Skiing

Witness the splendor of Sundance beneath the stars. Most of the front mountain and the Terrain Park is open for night skiing during the winter season on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday nights. Runs that are open at night include Top Gun, Montoya, Stampede and Maverick.
