Rest, Relax and Rejuvenate in the Red Rocks

The breathtaking red rock landscape of southwestern Utah is world-renowned for its hiking and mountain biking. But it’s also a perfect getaway for those times when you need some deep rest and rejuvenation. Soak up the warming sun, meditate to the dark Milky Way skies, and nourish yourself at wellness stops along the way. It will be a red rocks adventure to soothe the body and soul.

You'll start in Salt Lake City, where you'll relax into the big city spas and stroll through the incredible public gardens. Then you'll start your road trip with an overnight adventure in Monroe's mineral hot springs.

The next day, stop by Cedar City and Brian Head for a quiet spa day, a little self-care with some yoga, and a unique culinary adventure at a local farm. 

Then it's time to head to the incredible Zion National Park area. Bliss out with yoga and a hiking adventure through the breathtaking canyon walls, a soak and massage, then a decadent dinner and labyrinth walk. 

From your St. George basecamp, you'll soak up the majesty of Snow Canyon State Park with a leisurely hike, a massage at an award-winning spa, and end the day at an artists' colony cafe. 

Finally, you'll make one last stop in Kanab, a wild-west town full of regional surprises. Fall in love with the Coral Pink Sand Dunes, enjoy an authentic horseback riding adventure, then complete the day at an award-winning restaurant that's putting Kanab on the map.

If you're doing a round-trip adventure, try driving one way on I-15, then head home on Historic Highway 89. If you're flying, you can choose to fly out of Las Vegas or Salt Lake City airports to reduce your driving time.

After this week is up, you'll feel thoroughly relaxed and inspired by your world-class adventures in an unforgettable red rock desert.

Day 1

Salt Lake City to Monroe

175 Miles

Bustling Salt Lake City offers just about any kind of adventure you could imagine, set agaisnt the backdrop of the Wasatch Mountain Range. Enjoy a morning meditative stroll through 21-acres of Red Butte Garden's curated gardens to relax your mind, body and spirit. From there, you can head to the Kura Door for a unique wellness experience, offering Asian inspired baths, steam sessions, massages and skin care treatments. Top it all off with a healthy lunch at Oasis Cafe. Or, hit the road and head about 3 hours south to the tiny town of Monroe. You can spend the night at The Monroe Inn or Mystic Hot Springs. Both places offer access to the local awe-inspiring springs that bubble up out of the red dirt.​

Day 2

Cedar City and Brian Head

110 Miles

Cedar City is the perfect location for easy access to both stunning red canyons and alpine mountain vistas. Start the day off with a coffee and some yoga at Bristlecone Co., then head up the mountain to Brian Head for cooler temperatures and a mountain view spa experience, complete with soaking, steaming, massage and body treatments at Noorish Spa. Wrap up the day with a perfect farm-to-table dinner at Red Ace Farm under a beautiful summer sunset (check calendar for events) or some authentic French cuisine in downtown Cedar City at The French Spot.

Day 3

Springdale and Zion National Park

60 Miles

Gaze up at massive stone cliffs while practicing yoga and enjoying a quiet hike through a shallow river in sandstone slot canyons with Zion Guru. Check out their website for an updated schedule. After breaking a sweat, head over to the Spa at Cable Mountain Cliffs for some desert-inspired bodywork and relaxation. Finally, round out the day with a dinner sourced from local farms at Spotted Dog Cafe and an evening labyrinth walk for some meditation before bed. This is all possible when you visit Springdale, the town located right at the entrance to Zion National Park.

Day 4

Snow Canyon and Kayenta

Stroll through the otherwordly canyons in Snow Canyon State Park, taking in the stunning red rock formations and tenacious fauna and flora. Prepare to be amazed and inspired. Enjoy the solitude of less-frequented areas, allowing you to truly take in the scene and quiet your mind. Soak up a world-class spa experience at Red Mountain Resort, then find your center at Kayenta Arts Village in the remote desert. While there, enjoy a leisurely bite to eat at the artsy Zetava Gardens Cafe. If Zion wasn't enough "wow" for you, this day will make you fall in love with the red desert.

Day 5

Sand Dunes and Kanab

80 Miles

If you've always wanted to sink your feet into the silky texture of sand dunes, this is your chance to do just that. Spend the morning feeling like you've stepped into another universe at Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park. Feel the brisk morning air combined with heat from the morning sun. Then come back down to Earth on the back of a horse, riding through the stunning high desert landscape at Zion Mountain Ranch, where you can enjoy a lunch featuring local foods sourced right on location. Finish off this blissful day with a restaurant experiences that is drawing people from all over the world at Sego Restaurant.
