We are one feather on the body of the wild.

Adapted from the writing of Kathryn Knight Sonntag

From the forested Uinta mountains to the red rock country of Southern Utah, we are called to journey into wild places, time and time again. We unfold ourselves in the land’s time.

Here on the mountain, and in the desert, I am found. And I am free.

We trust that in the wildness of wilderness is the emancipation of our own souls and the wisdom of everything that lives. In these open lands, we find the freedom of our minds, a place of restoration where all can share in a collective beauty and expansiveness.

The experience of the wild in us, and in the land, may be something we can never fully grasp, let alone unfold with language. Language transforms with time and experience, layering like sandstone in a heart and mind that understands more fully how the disappearance of wildness is our own erasure.

Here on the mountain, and in the desert, we are found.

And we are free.
