Zion National Park Shuttle

The Virgin River didn’t shape Zion Canyon to accommodate the volume of visitors that Zion National Park attracts. One heavily trafficked road — Highway 9 — connects the west and east entrances through the most popular part of the park. To help reduce traffic and parking issues, there are two, free shuttle routes that operate most of the year.

How do I visit Zion without taking the shuttle?

Visitors can drive into Zion National Park, but parking is limited and fills up quickly. And from March to November, Zion's Scenic Drive is only accessible via shuttle. If you visit the park during off season, when the shuttle isn’t running, you may enter in your private vehicle.

Biking Zion's Scenic Drive is always allowed. However, during peak season you’ll be sharing the road with the shuttle buses and must abide by safety rules. Always pull over and stop when a shuttle bus is behind you and never pass a moving shuttle bus.

You can learn more about the rules on the National Park Service website.
