Utah State Capitol   |  Andrew Burr

For over a century, the State Capitol in Salt Lake City has been one of Utah’s most prominent landmarks. Designed by local architect Richard K. A. Kletting, the Capitol has been the home of state government since its opening in 1916.

Location and Hours

The Capitol Building is open to the public seven days a week (Monday-Thursday: 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Friday-Sunday and holidays: 7 a.m to 6 p.m.). Located in downtown Salt Lake City on Capitol Hill (350 N State St, Salt Lake City), visitors are encouraged to enter through the east doors. Inside, you can explore the Senate and House chambers, the Supreme Court Chamber, and various permanent and rotating exhibits displayed across the four main floors. April is a popular time for visitors looking to spot the cherry blossoms in bloom.
