Looking for a beautiful lavender field? Pump the brakes and don’t purchase that expensive plane ticket to the South of France just yet. The Young Living Lavender Farm and Distillery in Mona, Utah, is one of the world’s largest privately-owned essential oil distilleries, spanning nearly 1,700 acres. It’s a unique, beautiful place that gives you the perfect excuse to take a road trip from Salt Lake or the Utah Valley through the West Desert and Sanpete Valley.
Originally purchased in 1994 as a farmhouse with 160 acres of property, the Mona farm and distillery now occupies 1,700 acres and the visitor center is located where the farmhouse once stood. Just a short drive from the Young Living Global Headquarters in Lehi, Utah, botanicals sourced from the Mona farm include lavender, clary sage, goldenrod, Melissa, juniper and blue yarrow.
In addition to production, the farm and distillery is also a research facility and home to one of the world’s largest data-focused libraries on aromatic plant production.
