History and Future

The Utah Mammoth's entry into the NHL was as bold as it was exciting. Established in April 2024 as the Utah Hockey Club, the team was born from a unique expansion deal that brought the assets of the Arizona Coyotes — players, coaches and draft picks — to Salt Lake City. In a nod to the community’s excitement for their new team, fans were invited to vote on the team’s future name. So what began as the Utah Hockey Club became the Utah Mammoth in the spring of 2025.

The team’s competitive debut has sparked excitement across the state, laying the groundwork for a serious legacy in Utah’s sports culture.
