Other Utah Ski Destinations

Utah is home to many ski resorts and mountains. For visitors looking to explore the resorts beyond Salt Lake City, we've pulled together a roundup.

Provo

Sundance Mountain Resort. It's hard to go wrong in Provo, the nation's number one place for business (Forbes) and the nation's best place to live and happiest city (Gallup). You will find great local food and proximity to the renowned Sundance Mountain Resort and some of the mountain range's most picturesque slopes.

Get here: Time from Salt Lake City International Airport to Sundance Resort: 55 minutes.

The rustic but modern rooms, suites, dining and event services of Sundance make for one of the finest complete destinations in Utah, especially when measured against the breathtaking views of Mount Timpanogos, perhaps the loveliest peak in the Wasatch Mountain Range. Visitors to Sundance also lodge in Utah Valley or farther up the road in the Heber Valley. Both destinations offer excellent accommodations and access to outdoor recreation, like ice climbing in Provo Canyon or hundreds of miles of cross-country skiing near Heber, including the Olympic Biathlon Experience at Wasatch Mountain State Park's Soldier Hollow. For fine dining, check out Provo's Black Sheep Cafe or Communal, both near the up-and-coming downtown scene.

Northern Utah

Cherry Peak & Beaver Mountain. With Logan as your base camp, you have access to some very attractive lift prices at two intriguing Utah ski resorts: the sole family-owned resort (Beaver Mountain) and Utah's newest resort (Cherry Peak), in addition to diverse winter recreation in an endless national forest.

Get here: Travel about 90 minutes from Salt Lake City or Pocatello, Idaho, to Logan, and then it's between 20 and 40 minutes to Cherry Peak or Beaver Mountain.

Northern Utah showcases an abundance of highly regarded snowmobiling lands, lots of cross-country action and some terrific ice fishing to round out your winter stay in this tranquil, more rural region of the state. But don't let that fool you: Logan is home to a vibrant college-town atmosphere, inclusive of great dining, performing arts and plentiful accommodations. To sleep slopeside, try Beaver Mountain’s Yurt or to access additional trail systems and rental options there are plenty of condo properties near scenic Bear Lake, which is an attractive winter destination for snow enthusiasts.

Southern Utah

Brian Head & Eagle Point. We do our best in Utah to offer choice and proximity to outdoor adventure. Cedar City is a gateway town serving not only top red rock destinations in the southwest part of the state, but also two great Utah ski resorts: Brian Head and Eagle Point, which add up to more than 1,200 skiable acres.

Get here:  Brian Head is three hours north of Las Vegas on I-15 to S.R. 143. A 50-minute flight from SLC to CDC is followed by a 45-minute drive to Brian Head. It's less than 90 minutes to Eagle Point from Cedar City.

For a quick getaway to experience The Greatest Snow on Earth® in Southern Utah, look no farther than Brian Head's full-service accommodations and prime location. Folks from Las Vegas and California enjoy Utah's renowned downhill alongside Southern Utahns and northerners looking to mix it up a little among the red rock hoodoos of Mighty 5® territory. A football field away from the slopes, Cedar Breaks Lodge has all the views, spa amenities, dining, and opportunities to warm and relax you'd expect from a resort. What’s more, there are also a wide array of condos, family vacation rentals and additional lodging options throughout Brian Head at 9,600 feet. Back down to earth at 5,800 feet, Cedar City serves up an additional spectrum of beds in a unique college-town setting with red rock hills as a backdrop.

Though accommodations are fewer, there is remote charm in Eagle Point's mountain village, where suites, condos and vacation homes are available near the mountain, including many ski-in/ski-out properties. Eagle Point is an undiscovered gem in Utah's winter portfolio.
