Flaming Gorge Camping

Numerous campgrounds are scattered throughout the Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area. In addition to these listed below, there are more campgrounds located on adjacent Ashley National Forest.

Dripping Springs

2 miles southeast of Dutch John. Fire pits, covered picnic tables, ADA sites, drinking water, and flush and vault toilets. Sites: 21 basic sites, 1 double site, and 4 group sites (maximum 60 people each). Situated on flat terrain in an area burned in the Mustang Wildfire in July 2002, this campground offers no shade. However, there are covered picnic tables, so that helps. Reservations.

Antelope Flat

10 miles northwest of Dutch John. Fire pits, picnic tables (some covered), BBQ grills, drinking water, flush toilets, dump station, fish cleaning station, and boat ramp. Sites: 46 basic sites and 4 group sites (maximum varies from 50 to 80 people). Antelope Flat is located on sagebrush flats overlooking the reservoir. Reservations.

Mustang Ridge

4 miles west of Dutch John. Fire pits, picnic tables, ADA sites, drinking water, flush and vault toilets, and showers; boat launch and swimming beach nearby. Sites: 73 basic sites and 1 group site (maximum 50 people). A thick forest of juniper and pinyon pine, with some sagebrush thrown in, makes this a moderately shady place to camp. Reservations.

Deer Run

5 miles southwest of Dutch John. Fire pits, picnic tables, ADA sites, drinking water, flush and vault toilets, and showers; dump station, boat ramp, marina, bar and grill, and fish cleaning station nearby. Sites: 16 basic sites and 3 double sites. Rolling terrain with tall pinyon pine and juniper trees is offered at this campground. Reservations.

Cedar Springs

5 miles southwest of Dutch John. Fire pits, picnic tables, drinking water, and vault toilets; dump station, fish cleaning station, boat ramp, and marina nearby. Sites: 20 basic sites and 4 double sites. Located between the Deer Run Campground and the marina—which offers boat rentals, groceries, gas, mooring, and guided fishing—this campground is set on rolling terrain, with pinyon pine, juniper, and sagebrush serving to decorate the place. Reservations.

Firefighters Memorial

6 miles southwest of Dutch John. Fire pits, picnic tables, ADA sites, some tent pads, drinking water, flush toilets, and dump station Sites: 94 basic sites. This campground, blessed with a mix of stately ponderosa pines and sage, is named for the memorial that shares a place on its grounds. Reservations.

Greendale

7 miles southwest of Dutch John. Fire pits, picnic tables, drinking water, and vault toilets. Sites: 8 basic sites and 2 group sites (located across the road; maximum 40 people each). A small, ponderosa pine–blessed campground, this is a nice place for those who don’t want to camp with crowds. Reservations.

Skull Creek

GPS: 40.863117, -109.528250. 12 miles southwest of Dutch John. Fire pits, picnic tables, drinking water, and vault toilets. Sites: 17 basic sites. Aspens, ponderosa pines, and a variety of other conifers decorate this semi-open setting. Reservations.

Greens Lake

GPS: 40.873367, -109.536133. 13 miles southwest of Dutch John. Fire pits, picnic tables, some BBQ grills, drinking water, and vault toilets. Sites: 20 basic sites and 1 group site (maximum 40 people). Lovely ponderosa pines and aspens decorate this semi-open setting, where there is plenty of shade. Reservations.

Canyon Rim

GPS: 40.884533, -109.548600. 14 miles southwest of Dutch John. Fire pits, picnic tables, stove stands, drinking water, and vault toilets. Sites: 7 basic sites and 9 tents-only sites. Aspens, ponderosa pines, and a variety of mountain vegetation offer scattered shade in this semi-open setting. The campground is close to the Red Canyon Visitor Center and the spectacular Red Canyon Overlook. Reservations.

Red Canyon

GPS: 40.890233, -109.559917. 15 miles southwest of Dutch John. Fire pits, picnic tables, drinking water, and vault toilets. Sites: 8 basic sites. Ponderosa pines and junipers provide shade in this campground. Reservations.

Sheep Creek Bay

GPS: 40.921217, -109.674950. 8 miles south of Manila. Picnic tables and vault toilets. Sites: Dispersed. Located in the far end of the parking lot for the boat launch, this campground is near the boat launch for quick access to Flaming Gorge Reservoir. No reservations.

Willows/Mann’s

GPS: 40.926017, -109.715183 (Willows); 40.923533, -109.708633 (Mann’s). 7 miles south of Manila. Fire pits, picnic tables, and vault toilets. Sites: 17 basic sites (9 sites at Willows and 8 sites at Mann’s). These two campgrounds are very near one another, with both located in beautiful Sheep Creek Valley. No reservations.

Carmel

GPS: 40.931050, -109.732317. 7 miles south of Manila. Fire pits, picnic tables, and vault toilets. Sites: 15 basic sites. Cottonwoods and conifers shade these sites, some of which are semi-open, all of which provide close access to the Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area and the rest of Sheep Rock Geological Loop, a must-see. No reservations.

Lucerne Valley

GPS: 40.986767, -109.592850. 8 miles east of Manila. Fire pits, picnic tables (some covered), ADA sites, stove stands (at some sites), BBQ grills (at some sites), electric hookups, drinking water, showers, flush toilets, dump station, and a marina with a boat ramp, fish cleaning station, grocery store, boat rentals, and dry storage area. Sites: 44 basic sites, 90 electric-hookup sites, and 4 group sites (maximum 80 people each). Cottonwoods only partially shade this open area, with its lovely view of the reservoir. Reservations.
