Breathe in, close your eyes and picture this: You step, your stomach leaps to your throat and suddenly you’re free falling 400 feet. Utah’s famous red sandstone rock cliffs whooshing past you. Finally, the rope catches and you’re swinging like a pendulum at the bottom of the cliff, obviously singing Tom Petty — “And I’m free. Free fallin’.” You laugh, release and lie back with your arms in the air as the winch pulls you back to the top of the cliff. You just did that. You epic human, you. Whether you’re a thrill seeker backflipping off the cliff, simply conquering a fear or somewhere in the middle — Rope Swing Moab might be for you. A thrilling and accessible way to adventure in Utah’s red rock backcountry.

The rope swing is a true grassroots business that began in 2020. What started simply as buddies doing what they love in the desert, quickly transformed into a professional and permitted adventure. Their mission is to help people experience the great outdoors in a way they never thought possible.

“Somewhere along the way, it clicked that what we were doing was special. It wasn’t just jumping off 400 foot cliffs, it was the vibe, the people and the community. But most importantly, it was the feeling you get when you break through the wall and force yourself to do the scariest things you’ve ever done,” says Taylor Palmer, manager at Rope Swing Moab.

If you’re looking for extreme sports, this photo essay offers a glimpse of what to expect with Rope Swing Moab.
