Blanding, Utah, Native American, Ruins

Blanding is a gateway city to Utah's Canyon Country where you can enjoy red rock canyons, alpine meadows, ancient Native American sites, and the nearby Lake Powell marinas.

Blanding, Utah

Blanding mixes cowboy culture with Native American and prehistoric. Edge of the Cedars State Park & Museum is the only sanctioned repository for ancient artifacts in the Four Corners region. The museum showcases Ancestral Puebloan culture with contemporary Native American and the largest display of artifacts in the Four Corners. The Dinosaur Museum is an accredited federal fossil repository, with a collection of life-size dinosaur models, skeletons, fossilized dinosaur skin, and a huge petrified tree which is over 250 million years old. The Pioneer Museum, within the Blanding Visitor Center, presents more recent artifacts from the European settlers to the area. The museum also houses a delightful display of locally-created quilts.  Blanding is the beginning of the Trail of the Ancients National Scenic Byway. Blanding hosts the Hillman Triathlon in July, the Four Corners Indian Art Market in May, the Fourth of July Celebration, and co-hosts the San Juan ATV Safari in September.

Family Fun Adventures
The Edge of the Cedars Museum exhibits include a collection of prehistoric pottery and an on-site Puebloan ruin over 1,000 years old, 660 West 400 North, (435) 678-2238.

The Dinosaur Museum offers family fun and learning, too, (435) 678-3454.
