Utah Royals FC
Professional women's soccer comes to Utah
Meet the newest member in the Utah professional sports world, Utah Royals FC a National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) team. 2018 will be their inaugural season.
The team features some of the best players in the women's game, including defender Becky Sauerbraunn and winger Kelley O'Hara, both 2012 Olympic Gold Medal recipients, and World Cup champions. Sauerbraunn is the co-captain of the United States women's national team.
The Royals share Rio Tinto Stadium — known to fans as The RioT — with Real Salt Lake, Utah's Major League Soccer team.
The stadium in Sandy boasts a mountainous backdrop and is accessible via the UTA Trax light rail line from the 9000 South Trax Station.
The Royals are another installment in Utah's growing soccer scene, which boasts a United Soccer League (USL) team known as the Real Monarchs, a world-class, $60 million Zion Bank Real Academy that is a tuition-free, public STEM charter school focused on developing future soccer stars in grades 9–12.
If you want to be among the Royals' biggest fans, the Utah Royals FC Supporters Group seating area will be located in Sections 28/29 behind the north goal at Rio Tinto Stadium.
