Travelers in Sanpete Valley stop in Spring City, Ephraim and Manti for a mix of local cultures, heritage activities and scenic driving along Utah's Heritage Highway 89 (see the map), which winds through what is known as the Mormon Pioneer National Heritage Area.

Skyline Drive
Fairview canyon and Highway 31 are known as Skyline Drive. The drive between Fairview and Huntington is one of the most beautiful in the state. In addition to driving, Skyline Drive can be explored on bike in the summer, or on snowmobiles or cross country skiis in the winter (Fairview has several options for rentals). Learn more

Fairview Museum of History and Art
See a replica of the mammoth skeleton found in 1988 in the mountains east of Fairview, the art of sculptor Avard Fairbanks, and historical items related to the area. Learn more

Maple Canyon

Palisade State Park

Manti Temple
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saint's — known as Mormons — Manti Temple blends Gothic and French Revival styles of architecture into a most impressive structure visible from the highway. Visitors cannot enter the temple, but they make walk the ground and visit the visitor's center.

Granary Arts
A contemporary art space with rotating exhibits from across the country, next door, the Ephraim Co-op has a gift shop of locals’ crafts and goods. Learn more

Das Café
A signature eatery in Spring City that captures the surprisingly multicultural nature of many small Utah towns due to the immigration of Latter-day Saint converts. Das Café’s food and ambiance is an American-German-Mormon fusion. Call for open hours. Learn more

Spring City Arts
Spring City is a gathering place for Utah artists. Check out the local galleries on Main Street, or stop in Horseshoe Mountain Pottery. Learn more

Salina Salt Mine
The Redmond Salt Mine is nearly 100 years old and produced 300,000 tons of salt annually. Visit the museum and gift shop on the premises. 

Annual Events

This area is known for local celebrations. Don't be surprised if you travel through town and find parades, music and food for some event such as Lamb Day, the Scandinavian Festival or Welsh Days. Gleaning a Small Town's Harvest

Spring City
Spring City is one of only two sites in the United States where the entire town is on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. For lovers of history, art, fine craftsmanship, preservation and simple living, Spring City and the wider Sanpete Valley have much to offer. Ephraim
In 1847, recent immigrants from Denmark constructed a fort that ultimately became the town of Ephraim. Visit the Ephraim Co-op, for handcrafted items and gifts, and Granary Arts next door for rotating art displays. Memorial Day weekend marks the Scandinavian Festival each year.

Manti
During the early 1850s, a close-knit community of Danish, Swedish, and Norwegian Mormon immigrants settled in Manti, in fact, Manti was originally called "Copenhagen." Visit Manti City Hall for an artistic gallery as well as the Mormon Temple Heritage Center.
