Camping in Utah is a wonderful way to experience the state's potpourri of stunning landscapes. With hundreds of public and private campgrounds to choose from, the first step is deciding whether you'd rather assemble your tent in an aspen grove beneath majestic mountain peaks, near one of Utah's famous rivers or lakes, or within red rock country surrounded by other worldly rock formations, spires, and pinnacles.

An additional consideration is the type of camping you'd prefer. If you desire a maximum degree of solitude, a place with the greatest chance of observing wildlife, viewing some of the most star-filled skies on earth in perfect silence, and are prepared with your own food, water, and supplies, there are literally countless primitive camping opportunities throughout the state. These sites can be perfect for outdoor adventurers: hikers, backpackers, hunters, and fisherman, who are looking for the most intimate connection with Utah's wilderness.

Many other campgrounds can be found with amenities and creature comforts, such as showers, RV hookups, pools, kids' play areas, even mini-markets! Many of these facilities are located in close proximity to restaurants, shopping, and more. Whatever the camping experience you're looking for, the following information is intended to help you easily choose your ideal campsite.
