Scenic Byway 12 is certainly known for its diverse and sweeping landscapes as much as it is the people and communities that tie it together. Yet this a road that has almost been absorbed by the landscape, as much a part of the place as the rocks, the trees and the sky that define it.

Pulitzer Prize-winning photographer Larry C. Price sent back hundreds of postcards from Scenic Byway 12. We've already shown you ten fun little details, now here are two slideshows showing some of the postcard-perfect scenes and snaps of the road that begin to paint a picture of why we love this drive.

Scenic Byway 12, Utah's All-American Road, is a nationally designated scenic drive for reasons that are abundantly obvious. A road that took more than four decades to complete, Highway 12 respectfully carves its path through some of nature's masterpieces, in turn making a masterpiece out of the road. That's good company.

Drive the Road

See the Sights

The road skirts the perimeter of a vast national monument and Kodachrome Basin, passes through Dixie National Forest, and has two of the nation's best national parks, Bryce Canyon and Capitol Reef, as bookends.

Each of these destinations has plenty to fill up the day. Connecting all these destinations is Scenic Byway 12, a destination unto itself.
